Where did half the market go?

Happy Sunday morning. I realized I haven't written to you in two weeks. Honestly, a lot has been happening behind the scenes.

The market is changing

The Atlantic Beach Farmers Market has new management, a new layout, and now another market operating nearby at the same time. Some vendors stayed. Some moved. Others are still figuring out where they belong. Naturally, people are a little anxious.

Markets are more than tents and tables

From the customer side, a farmers market can look simple: set up a tent, put food on the table, start selling.

But for many small businesses, markets are a major part of how we earn a living, meet our customers, and build something sustainable. When a market changes, everyone feels it.

We're still under the same trees

Backyard Buffalo has been at Atlantic Beach since 2020. We have changed names, tents, packaging, and probably everything else at least once. But on Sundays, we are still under the same trees.

Things have a way of working out

I don't know exactly how this market split will settle. But I have learned that things often work out for the best, even when they feel uncomfortable in the middle.

Maybe both markets will grow. Maybe customers will discover more small businesses. Maybe each market will build its own community. There is room for all of us to do well.

For now, we are doing what small businesses do: showing up, adjusting, and continuing to feed the people who come looking for us.
